Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar


Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.D

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar was born in Medan on May 30, 1964. He is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Ministry of Education and Culture - Research and Technology Republic of Indonesia since February 1, 2017.

Obtained a Medical Doctor's Degree at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara in 1988. Appointed as an Indonesia Government Employee Health Worker in 1989 and assigned in very remote areas in Papua Province, Jayapura Regency in 1990, and became Head of the Health Technical Implementation Unit of the Papua Provincial Government in 1990 - 1993.

In 1993, continued as an Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident at the Department Obstetrics and Gynecology Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, finished as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist in 1998. Continue serving the country as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist at the Sorong District Hospital, West Papua from 1998-2008.

Returned to the Universitas Sumatera Utara to become a Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2008 – now. Completed Master degree in Clinical Medicine at the Universitas Sumatera Utara in 2011, earned a Consultant Brevet in the Field of Reproductive Immuno-Endocrinology and Fertility Medicine from the Indonesian College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2012, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Medical Sciences at the Universitas Sumatra Utara in 2012.

Since 2018 – now as President/Chairman of the Indonesian Society of Menopause (ISM), in  2018–2021 as Executive Board member of the Indonesian College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Committee on Fulfillment of Service & Equity placement for Specialists.


Assigned as General Executive Secretary of Universitas Sumatera Utara  2021-2026.
